Yelle's Yell - Winter Fun

Last weekend, we took a trip to The Living Planet aquarium. Cole had two basic reactions:
1)Open-mouthed wonder:2)Point, point, point.
We had a great time and it was nice to get out of the house. I'd like to do more of that, but am kind of clueless as to what's around. So my question is, do you guys have things that you really like to do in the winter?

We love the aquarium too! We actually have year passes because you only have to go two or three times to make it worth it, and it is only an hour trip. My boys like to go to the "park" at the South Towne Mall where Mervyn's use to be. It's free and I can sit back and read a book while they play around. They love it. And now they have a little train you can take for a ride around the mall too. We haven't been yet, but I'm sure it will be a hit also. The children's museum at the Gateway is a lot of fun too.

We like to go to the pet shop and look at all the cats, dogs, fish, birds, etc.
Its free and fast and close to our house!

When my boys were younger we loved to go to the dinosaur museum at Thanksgiving Point. Kind of pricey (or is it pricy?), but we had a membership so it wasn't a big deal. It is a great place to let the kids run. Cabella's is actually pretty fun for kids too. Hill Air Force Base has a pretty cool airplane museum. Places like Jump on It and Kangaroo Zoo are good for getting some energy out.

Zero idea's on how to improve the winter blues...

But, I love the picture of Cole's gasping mouth. So, I have that to offer. :)

Jungle Jim's in Midvale is lots of fun & there's a place in Draper (Backyard adventures?) that is fun with an indoor bouncehouse, slides & swings, etc. Look on www.gocitykids.com--they always tell what's going on locally and lots of it is usually free! Cole's "awe" face is so adorable!:)

I second the mall playground, pet store, and Cabela's ideas. Also, having someone over with their kids or going to someone else's house is great too. Don't try the movies - you'll be outside most of the time.

If your cheap like me free is good. The natural history museum at the U is free the first Monday of the month and it's open late that day. The UMFA is free the first wednesday of the month, a little less hands on, but not open very late. We also love going up Neff's Canyon and sledding back down.
