Can't Help It!!!

There's so many cliches about being a mom that you find out are totally true once you have kids. One is that your baby is the cutest thing in the whole world. I find myself taking pictures and videos of things Cole does that I just can't believe and think are so adorable, even while I know that children everywhere do these things. Anyway, please indulge me while I share some of my most favorite recent shots:

Every time I look at these pictures, for some reason Limp Biskit's "Keep Rolling" just pops into my head.
I love the far-away existential look on his face in this one, you can tell he's thinking very deep thoughts....or else, you know, he's just freaked out about being outside for the first time. Whatever.
In this one, I enjoy how the sweet potatoes have formed a frowny face:
And finally, I was cooking the other day, and I look up and he's peeking around the couch at me with this huge smile on his face:
How can I help but whip out the camera all the time? :)

Shots, Art, Girlfriends, and Kisses

Cole had his 6 month visit to the doctor's this week. He is now almost 18 pounds and nearly 29 inches. Maybe one day his height will even out with his weight, but I think it will be a while! He also got three shots, but didn't cry nearly as much as the first two times. Good job, buddy!
His school also coordinated an art project for all of the kids for the March of Dimes. They put all of the "pieces" on display at the Union building up at the U. I made sure to take a picture of Cole's piece:
You may notice the other picture I took - this is of a little girl in Cole's class - Greta. She is officially his first girlfriend. Apparently, they sit in their chairs and hold hands and talk to each other. Adorable!!!

Cole has also learned to give kisses. Girls everywhere watch out - he uses lots of tongue! All joking aside, they are so precious, and I absolutely love them.

Happy Easter!

Wasn't it wonderful to have such a beautiful Easter day? I feel like Spring is really on it's way. On Saturday, we went to the Thomsen's and had an Easter egg hunt and dinner. Cole wasn't really sure what was going on, but it was cute to see all of his cousins help him find eggs.
On Sunday, Bryce and I gave Cole a couple of books (I love working at a book store!), and couldn't help but find him adorable in his little chick onesie.
I was also able to squeeze in a little time for some cookie decorating. I have a new book - Cookie Craft - and I highly recommend it. Such great ideas!
That morning, we went to hear my dad speak at church. He did an amazing job, and I love how touched everyone in the congregation was. All of the members came up to him after and said how wonderful it was. He did such in-depth research and related excellent stories. He is such a gifted speaker.

Later on in the afternoon, Grandma and Grandpa Allen, along with Great Grandma and Grandpa Allen came over for dinner. Grandma Nancy and Grandpa Randy gave Cole a cute outfit and adorable little puppy, which is his new best friend. Thank you!!!We hope you also had a great Easter and that the Easter bunny was good to you! :)

Brave Enough to Touch the 'Stache

After six months, Cole finally worked up the nerve to touch the 'stache. It was a big day. :)

Six Months Old!

We simply can't believe our little guy is six months old. Everything people tell you about kids is true - time goes by so quickly, yet it seems like Cole has been a part of our family as long as I can remember. He still seems so small to me, yet when I compare this:
to this:
I'm blown away by how much he's grown. I think my favorite part is watching him make all kinds of discoveries and how excited he gets by each one. I love how he rotates his hands back and forth in front of his face like he can't believe they're actually his. I love how he pats my face and brushes his fingers through my hair. I even love how he eats his rice cereal. We tried it over the weekend, and he did a great job! I adore this picture - he's like, "What? I'm just sitting here eating this nasty cereal and you feel the need to take a picture of me? Thanks."Anyway, we love you, Cole - happy 6 months!
