D is for Dinner

On Saturday night, Mike and Heidi were kind enough to have our family, along with Shan and Lance's, over for dinner. I've been friends with these girls since junior high, and although our paths have wandered, we pick right up where we left off when we get together.

The kids played together fantastically, and even let us take a picture. What a bunch of cuties!I also had to throw this one in of Cole and Luke sharing a tricycle. Thanks for having us over - we all had such fun!

More Milestones

We got a letter today from his school that Cole will be moving from the Wobbler room to the Toddler room at the end of this month. Bryce and I have been dreading this because we have absolutely loved his teachers - Miss Brie, Miss Jessica, and Miss Erin. They have been amazing, and it will be hard to see Cole leave their class.

So, as Cole keeps moving on, here's a little snapshot of our boy at 16 months:

He loves to dance. He shrugs his shoulders and does little squats up and down. His current favorite song is "In Da Club" by 50 Cent. (Obviously the cleaned-up version, but it says something about his musical tastes.)

He will almost always choose fruits, vegetables, or cheese over bread or sweets.

He loves animals.

He still hates having his clothes changed.

He loves being scared or chased.

His favorite bath toy is a measuring cup.

He's very organized. Exhibit A - all Tupperware must be positioned exactly so.He gives the best hugs. The kind with back pats and everything!

His favorite thing to do is read. And read.
He does not really like taking baths, but does enjoy sitting in the tub.He gets a kick out of his reflection, and understands that's "Ole."
We sure do love this little guy!

3 Way Cake

For Valentine's I wanted to make a cake, but couldn't decide on how to do it. There were a lot of things I wanted to try...so I did a 3-way cake. This was also my first attempt at a square cake. The front was plain with a sugar flower, one side was piped in scrolls, and the other I tried quilting. I figured since I wasn't actually giving/serving it to anyone, I might as well try a little bit of everything!

I Do NOT Heart Valentine's Day

Cole's daycare did a little Valentine's Day celebration on Friday. It was adorable, all of the kids "decorated" cookies and exchanged valentines. Cole was not impressed.Apparently, he does not take after his mom because he is not a sugar fan - he would not eat his cookie and spat out the marshmallows he did try.His buddy Isak ate his cookie for him. What a friend!

Cole's Translation Guide

"Moe" = More [insert food item] please. The last two pancakes I inhaled just aren't enough.
"Da" = An interchangeable reference to Dad, Mom, and myself.
"Man" = Iron Man.
"Bits" = Binks. (Yes, I know when they start asking for it, they're too old. Don't you judge me!)
"Uck" = Pick me up - now. Especially if you're right in the middle of making dinner.
"Bahoo" = Balloon. I would like one. So I can scratch it with my nails and drive mommy crazy wondering when it's going to pop.
"Beh Buon" = Belly button. I'm like the Pillsbury Dough Boy - push on my belly button and I giggle.

Words needing no translation: Books, Ball, Duck, Eyes, Hi, Bye, Bunny, and Fish.

*Gulp*....

I found out today that I landed my first wedding cake job! The wedding is May 6th, and I'll be doing a three tier square cake, along with two sheet cakes for serving.

Exhilarated.
Excited.
Ready for the challenge.
Nervous, nervous, nervous.

I'm sure this won't be the last time I say this in the coming months, but....what was I thinking?!
