Quick Poll

So, Bryce and I are starting to whittle down baby names, and I was wondering what you all thought. We like Seth, Caleb, and Jake, but saw a new one last night and are starting to like it. What do you guys think of the name Ashton - calling him "Ash" for short? Is it too weird?

And I promise, we didn't use Ashton Kutcher as inspiration.

I vote for Seth. Its a good strong name and I had a friend that we called Seth growing up and he is a excellent person to share a name with!

You realize Scott is talking about Ryan Heiner, yes? Wasn’t it your dad who gave him that name? Or did he just give Jeremy a nickname?
Anyway- I vote for Ashton or Seth. I am leaning more toward Ashton because I like the idea of calling him Ash. There is no short version of Seth. Eth, maybe?

I would vote for Ashton or Caleb. What are you thinking for a middle name? I know before you had said that maybe you wanted to use your maiden name or your dad's first name??

I like all four picks.

I vote for Seth. That one sounds the best when paired with your last name. Still, no matter what name you pick, boys always end up with a nickname that may or may not have anything to do with their real name. All of my hubby's friends call him "Manwhore."(an ironic name since I'm the only girlfriend he ever had) I have yet to hear them call him Ben.

I'm a fan of Seth, too. If you can't find a nickname for "Seth" you could always use initials, such as "LJ".

Danielle - thanks for the kind words about your old mom. I love you too.

I like the name Ashton too, but we don't really care what you name him, just as long as we get to babysit as much as possible. Loved your blog!!

I've always loved the name Jake and Seth is so cool. Did I read that you are thinking of using Allen as a middle? Love it.

And it's so true about the total random nick-names sticking. In Chris's family they call Luke "pokey" which sounds SO WEIRD, but when he was born Liv was only two and for some reason that's what she called him. She stopped calling him that long ago, but it was too late with everyone else and it stuck. It just never quite works out like you picture it will...=)
