An Early Surprise
We are happy to announce the arrival of our new little boy - Jack Robert Thomsen! He was born on April 25th at 3 pounds, and 16.5 inches.
I'd been having some issues with swelling and feeling a light-headed, so on Sunday night, my dad brought over his home blood-pressure cuff. My readings were at 180/120, which I just didn't think could be right. The next morning, I tested again and they were the same, so we headed off to the hospital to get it checked out.
At first, it sounded like I would just be put on bed rest. But my blood pressure just wasn't responding to the medication and my kidneys were starting to have issues. The doctor came in and point blank said we would be having the baby today. An hour later, our sweet little boy was born via c-section.
Jack has been a fighter since the first moment. He was able to come off of the ventilator after only one day and is breathing on his own. He's making all the steps he needs to and just needs time to grow. He'll be in the NICU for about the next 6 weeks, just getting bigger and learning how to eat.

While it was definitely not the way we planned, both Bryce and I are so happy that things are going well. Thank you to everyone for their thoughts, prayers, and visits. We love you all and appreciate your support!

Something Fishy
Last weekend, we were able to visit the aquarium. Cole loved seeing all the fish, and was actually brave enough to touch some of the starfish.

He's been talking about fish all week, so we decided to get him his first fish. Saturday night, we got one all picked out and set up. Cole promptly named him "Doc Hudson."

Welcome to the family, Doc!

You Know You Shouldn't Laugh, But...
Cole: "Mama, pwease turn on the radio. I want a youd song."
Me: "A loud song?"
Cole: "Yes, one that goes boom, boom, boom."
I turn on the radio. The first song that comes on is "Baby Got Back."
Cole: "Stop, Mama. I yike this song."

Peep Show
Bryce and I were very excited to get another ultrasound yesterday. It was relieving to find out everything looks good and baby #2 is growing just fine. We had hoped to see a little bit of the baby's personality, but all we got was a whole lot of this:
Arms and legs. Basically, he had his arms covering his face the whole time and his legs curled up around his head. With Cole, it was like he was lounged back in a hammock. This one wouldn't uncurl one tiny bit. With a little maneuvering, we were able to finally see a little bit of a profile and a foot.
We just had to laugh. I was so happy to find out everything was going well and am so excited to meet this little guy!
