Kindergarten Graduation

How?!  How is it this time so soon? My sunshine is graduating from Kindergarten. While the year started a little rough, he's come such a long way. We were happy to see him come so far!

Cute Girls

In a trampoline park full of little boys, Jack predictably latches on to the cute teenage girl.
"Her name's Olivia, mom. We're a team."

Hiking Goals

Every year we have very lofty hiking goals, none of which really come to pass. This year, we decided just to find short little things around Salt Lake. This time, we actually did it! Woohoo for setting low goals and reaching them!

Mother's Day

Another Mother's Day in the books. It was truly lovely to spend time with the best mom in the world and the two cute boys who made me a mom.

I'm pretty lucky.

Personal Butler

One thing that continually blows me away is how incredibly helpful Cole is. Just like any kid, he can give me dirty looks about doing his chores, but when it comes to projects or helping others, Cole is incredible. He sticks with a job until it is done. He asks for more to do. I've had multiple days where he's followed me around saying he's my personal butler.

For Mother's Day this year, we did a yard clean-up at Grandma and Grandpa Thomsen's house. Cole worked the ENTIRE time, continuing to help when the other kids had faded away. I was so proud of the way he put his energy into all the tasks he was asked to. All I can say is that I'm lucky to be the mom of this amazing kid!

Jack's 6th Birthday

Jack has been looking forward to his birthday since before Christmas, and it just couldn't come fast enough for him. He was definite in his desires for this year's birthday:

1) Chubby Puppy: This is one of those times I really hate children's TV. There is a play set called Chubby Puppy (sadly, no, this is not what they call me at the beach) that features puppies. You know. Chubby ones. Jack saw a stuffed Chubby Puppy at the toy store and it's been at the top of his list for weeks. Most of his stories feature a hero named Chubby.

2) The Aquarium: Jack loves the aquarium. He is always up for a visit. Good thing we enjoy it too.

3) Doughnut Cake: This is my personal favorite of Jack's requests. I think a new tradition has been born.

We love you Jack! Your imagination is incredible, your smile contagious, and your love of others beautiful. Happy Birthday!

We Don't Dress Up

Every once and a while, Bryce and I like to remind ourselves that we weren't always old and boring by going on a date. So we picked the oldest and boringest thing to do on a recent one: a scholarship banquet.

Oooooooooooh.

It was really for work, but we ended up having a blast. They had a cool swing band, the decorations were super hip, and we dance-floored-it-up with our friend Mandy.

Bryce even bid on...and won...a crane picture. Excited to have THAT in the house.

See kids, like us, you can keep the romance alive. All it takes is a little planning and a work obligation. Viola!
