Farewell, Princess
After 10 glorious years, it was time to bid an old friend farewell. We loved Princess dearly, but she was struggling, and we wanted something a little bigger for our family. So today we said farewell to Princess and welcomed a new lady into our family. She's a Hyundai Tucson - all wheel drive for those snowy days. No name yet, but we're excited to have her!

Excuse the PJ's, but buying a car makes me tired. Hopefully, it will be another 10 years before we get to do THAT again!
Crazy Hair Day and More
For those of you moms who may have worked at some point or another - you know how hard it is to leave your child behind when you go. The only thing that has made it work for us is University Kids - the school that Cole goes to. They really make an effort to help develop the kids, and I totally credit them with Cole's adventurous eating habits.
This summer has been a fun one. The kids have gone on class hikes, had visits from "mad scientists" and "zoo keepers," and have gotten up close with an ambulance and fire truck. They even had a crazy hair day. (I love the pictures below, especially the one where Cole is looking so pleased that I'm taking his picture.)
So, thank you, University Kids! I hope fall is this much fun...

Bon Voyage BBQ
Saturday night, the Thomsen's celebrated one last big BBQ with Ryan, Eliza, and Peter before they went back to New Zealand.
We roasted hot dogs...with some success.
Played with bubbles.

And made s'mores! (Obviously, Cole loved s'mores as much as all other desserts.)

It was a great time, and we were sad to see the New Zealand Thomsen's go. We can't wait to see you all again!

Big Kid Date Night
As part of the festivities for the New Zealand Thomsen's, we decided to do a date night for the siblings. For two glorious kid-free hours, we played at Boondock's and had a fantastic time. There was men vs. women mini golf (we only lost by 5 strokes - next time, ladies!), go-karts, and super-soaker bumper boats. We ended the night with s'mores and ice cream sandwiches at our house. It was such fun, and the "Line Butting Altercation" and subsequent free passes will go down in history.
